Latest Changes

September 20, 2011 - FAN SITE NO LONGER UPDATED!

I'm sorry to say that the entire fan site will not be updated for the upcoming Isengard expansion and whatever follows. I'm not playing the game at the moment and have other things to take up my time. Never say never, of course (I do have a lifetime subscription) but it takes a lot of very hard work and I have to be dedicated to the game for it to be worth my while. I hope you understand.

I will leave the fan site where it is for now, but note that Turbine will change a lot of stats in the Isengard expansion. This will probably render most of the data at this web site pretty much obsolete and useless.

August 17, 2011

All steeds in Enedwaith now correctly state that they actually sell for 20 Golden Token of the Wilds, not 20 Silver Token of the Wilds.

July 1, 2011

The fan section is now a unique web site (i.e. no longer part of a bigger family of sections and blog posts at Chordian.net). The converted fan section is also no longer attached to WordPress which means you can't add comments anymore.

If you wish to contact me, there's an e-mail link in the footer.

Changes from Chordian II

June 6, 2011

Validated all vendors in Mines of Moria for Volume 3, Update 3. No changes here. All zones are now synchronized with Volume 3, Update 3.

June 5, 2011

Validated all vendors in Lothlórien for Volume 3, Update 3. Virtually no changes in this zone.

Added appearance images for Burnt Orange Wall Paint, Pine Green Wall Paint and Teal Wall Paint, courtesy of A Casual Stroll to Mordor.

June 4, 2011

Validated and updated all vendors in Mirkwood for Volume 3, Update 3.

June 3, 2011

Validated and updated all vendors in Enedwaith for Volume 3, Update 3.

April 27, 2011

Section maps and NPC images now crossfades correctly. It’s just a small graphical change that doesn’t really mean anything. You may have to refresh the zone page once because of this change.

April 26, 2011

Improved search results slightly by renaming a small handful of images files (less than ten) for Lothlórien.

April 25, 2011

Perhaps you have noticed that some of the lists have suddenly gone from black-and-white to full Technicolor™. During most of April, I have updated almost all lists, item images and tooltips in Mines of Moria and Lothlórien, as well as a few in Mirkwood. I have learned a lot about making things look better since I started making this section, and I thought I would bring the old zone pages up to date.

Fixed a bug where zone pages were frozen if the map line was minimized through the cookie (or a URL switch).

Added the switch barter=true to the search page. Here’s an example of how to show search results for “Dark Emblem” items:

http://chordian.net/lotro/search.php?search=dark&barter=true

Removed outlines in barterer list rows (especially annoying in Internet Explorer 9).

April 22, 2011

A new feature has been added to the search page. You can now also search for barter items, such as coins, medallions, etc. Check out this blog post for more information about it.

April 20, 2011

Replaced the appearance images for the four ornate vases starting with Potted Amaranth Recipe. The new appearance images originates from A Casual Stroll to Mordor and are way better.

April 16, 2011

Added the eighth barterer, Maethdur (Veterans’ Quartermaster), and the ninth barterer, Golweniel (Heroes’ Quartermaster); both including appearance images. This concludes the new barterers in Harndirion introduced in Volume 3, Book 3.

April 15, 2011

Added the seventh barterer, Geranium Took (Aspirants’ Quartermaster) including appearance images.

April 13, 2011

Added the sixth barterer, Beleglaer (Novices’ Quartermaster) including appearance images.

April 12, 2011

Added the fifth barterer, Rafkell (Legendary Item Quartermaster).

April 11, 2011

Added the fourth barterer, Thelawen (Heroes’ Quartermaster) including appearance images.

April 10, 2011

Added the third barterer, Tirithbenn (Veterans’ Quartermaster) including appearance images.

April 8, 2011

Added the second barterer, Ruichiril (Aspirants’ Quartermaster) including appearance images. This barterer may appear to have exactly the same items for sale as the Novices’ Quartermaster, but actually the armour value is slightly higher.

April 7, 2011

Started the process of adding the new Harndirion barterers that was introduced in Volume 3, Book 3.

Added the first barterer, Arnfinnur (Novices’ Quartermaster) including appearance images.

April 1, 2011

Added appearance images for Large Uch-Lûth Ox-shrine and Small Uch-Lûth Ox-shrine.

March 29, 2011

Validated and updated all vendors in Mines of Moria for Volume 3, Book 3. All zones are now synchronized with Volume 3, Book 3.

March 28, 2011

Validated and updated all vendors in Lothlórien for Volume 3, Book 3.

March 26, 2011

Validated and updated all vendors in Mirkwood for Volume 3, Book 3.

March 25, 2011

Validated and updated all vendors in Enedwaith for Volume 3, Book 3.

February 28, 2011

Fixed a bug where the information for Golden Token of the Wilds was sometimes cut off in the middle of sentences.

February 26, 2011

Improved the information for Golden Token of the Wilds (a barter item in Enedwaith).

February 23, 2011

Added new item images for all mounts and teleport abilities (muster/guide/return) in all zones except Enedwaith (it was already up to date). The new item images are now double tooltips so you can see the actual skill as well (e.g. speed and morale for mounts).

Also added a new mount in Mirkwood that Turbine apparently slipped in while I wasn’t looking.

I actually bought the Tame Redhorn-goat in Moria just to verify that it’s exactly the same model as the Nimble Redhorn-goat. It is, right down to the last pixel. The tame goat now uses the same appearance image.

February 20, 2011

A zone page for Enedwaith has been added. All faction vendors are available, including all appearance images.

There are two factions in Enedwaith; The Grey Company and Algraig, Men of Enedwaith. There are two vendors for The Grey Company (both have the same stuff) and one for Algraig. There are also three legendary vendors in the zone (all have the same stuff).

January 1, 2011

The section has been adapted to work in the new Chordian II environment with a different design and PHP. The following changes were made in the conversion process:

Changes from Chordian I

The links has been updated to work in Chordian II, but some of the descriptions may refer to UI elements as they appeared in the previous web site. I decided to keep these changes so you can see how the section has evolved since the beginning.

November 14, 2010

Validated and updated all vendors in Lothlórien, Moria and Mirkwood. All zones are now synchronized with Volume 3, Book 2, except The Shire. As usual you can see any changes in an information box for each vendor.

Skirmish camps will no longer be updated — see the FAQ for more information about this.

September 8, 2010

All vendors in all zones now show that the list is validated against Volume 3, Book 1 and thus are outdated since Book 2 is being released this week. I’m a bit busy with something else these days so it may be a while before I’ll start validating.

August 19, 2010

A new feature has been added. You can now click any barter item (the ones you normally only saw a floating tooltip for) to display a box with information about where and how to get it. This works in all zone pages and for all barter items.

August 5, 2010

Added the Rune-keeper trainer Bariel in Ost Galadh (Mirkwood) including all appearances.

August 4, 2010

In case you didn’t see it on the front page, the domain has been moved to a new host. This means that the zone pages and its images should load a whole lot faster than before. I hope this eliminates waiting around for those big skirmish lists.

July 29, 2010

Validated the Rune-keeper trainer Bainien in Telain Galadhrim (Lothlórien). There were only minor changes to a few stats in the cyan Lady’s Foresight armour set (this was expected).

July 9, 2010

Added the Rune-keeper trainer Samling in Twenty-first Hall (Mines of Moria) including all appearances.

May 12, 2010

The latest changes are no longer combined with link boxes to the hubs and now has this separate page with a new name. Please go to [a zone page] to select hub links.

March 14, 2010

Optimized a ton of item images in all zone pages. Item images should generally load faster now, especially double crafting images.

March 13, 2010

Validated the rest of Lothlórien. The Aureate and Glowing Aureate jewellery is now multi-output, and a few cooking food items had their regeneration and duration numbers altered.

Also validated all vendors in Moria and The Shire. Everything should now be synchronized with Volume 3, Book 1.

March 11, 2010

Validated the following hubs in Lothlórien: Echad Andestel, Talan Fanuidhol, Cerin Amroth, Telain Galadhrim (Upper and Lower), and the Gate to Caras Galadhon.

March 9, 2010

Validated the rest of Mirkwood. Maedhrusc in Ost Galadh now barter five new supreme cooking recipes. Eregriel in Mithechad and Andidhiel in Thangúlhad now barter steeped draughts instead of infused draughts (slightly better debuff potions).

March 8, 2010

The Weapons vendor in the skirmish camps is now up-to-date. There were no changes to item images or appearances here, only that all items now cost less marks. All vendors in the skirmish camps should now be synchronized with Volume 3, Book 1.

Validated the three vendors in the Echad Sirion hub in Mirkwood. I have added an indication for all other vendors in Mirkwood that their lists are outdated until I have validated them as well, but my guess is that there are very few changes here.

March 7, 2010

The Medium Armour vendor in the skirmish camps is now up-to-date. One new armour set was added (Enforcer’s) with the same appearance as the Stalker’s armour set.

The Provisions and Skirmish Captain vendors are now also up-to-date.

Added the new Skirmish Exchange vendor to the skirmish camps.

March 6, 2010

The Legendary Items vendor in the skirmish camps is now up-to-date. Also added two appearances there.

The Light Armour vendor is now also up-to-date. One new armour set was added (Mentor’s) with the same appearance as the Specialist’s armour set.

March 5, 2010

The Heavy Armour vendor in the skirmish camps is now up-to-date. One new armour set was added (Protector’s) with the same appearance as the Patron’s armour set.

The Jewellery and Cloaks vendor is now also up-to-date.

March 4, 2010

The Crafting vendor in the skirmish camps is now up-to-date. 66 recipes and 4 tokens were added.

The Curiosities vendor is now also up-to-date. (“Moor Cowbell” !? Ha Ha!)

March 3, 2010

Added the appearances for the 15 new cosmetic items sold by the Cosmetics vendor in the skirmish camps.

March 2, 2010

I have started updating the vendor lists with the changes in Volume 3, Book 1. I’m attending a course these weeks so it will be a little slow. All updated lists will show a box with the book patch they’re in sync with.

The Cosmetics vendor in the skirmish camps should now be up-to-date. The appearances for the 15 new cosmetic items will be added later, though.

February 19, 2010

All merchants that sell heritage runes now show the item experience points gained (IXP) directly in their lists.

Added level indications in lists for Heavy Armour, Jewellery and Cloaks, Legendary Items (third age items), Light Armour, Medium Armour and Weapons in the skirmish camps. This should make it even easier to spot the relevant items.

February 17, 2010

Added Darzil’s appearance images to Aesseryn, Isdúr and Orelleth’s items in Lothlórien (two hubs). Also added four thin furniture appearances (flower vases) for Bassiril in Lothlórien (Docks in Egladil).

February 16, 2010

Added Darzil’s appearance images to Maenasdir’s items in Lothlórien (The Vinyards of Lórien).

February 15, 2010

All skirmish soldier hair styles and outfits now use Darzil’s appearance images.

February 14, 2010

A search box has been added to the bottom of the barterer lists in the zone pages. Here you can search all items in the current vendor list. The search always finds the most relevant results first when you type several words, and fragments of words are also accepted (minimum three letters per word).

February 13, 2010

Added the “Veteran” appearances for the Light and Medium Armour vendors in the skirmish camps. Both lists are now complete.

Swapped the NPC names and jobs in skirmish camps. Selecting job titles in the NPC drop-down box instead of names makes much more sense, especially when the row with map images is minimized.

February 12, 2010

Darzil of the renowned Darzil’s LoTRO Crafting Guide gave permission to add links to appearance images at his web site. This could be very useful in order to fill out holes such as e.g. appearances for crafting armour.

As a test, I have added appearance links to the lists of Iawen and Maedhrusc in Mirkwood (Ost Galadh). The recipes sold by these vendors are “multi-output” which means that you can craft several versions with the same recipe. I have added the default images as a sort of preview and then added a link that goes to the pertinent section at Darzil’s web site.

While updating the jQuery code to handle multiple appearance images, I streamlined the code and fixed a few bugs. You should no longer see an annoying “flash” when going from the bottom of a long list to another, and Webkit-based browsers (e.g. Chrome and Safari) should now load all lists and images without delay. Also fixed various other minor bugs.

Added the “Veteran” appearances for the Heavy Armour vendor in the skirmish camps. The Heavy Armour list is now complete.

February 11, 2010

Added all the appearances for the Weapons vendor in the skirmish camps. That was quite a batch! It felt like the work folder with images could go on forever.

February 10, 2010

Added most of the appearances for the Medium Armour vendor in the skirmish camps.

February 8, 2010

Added all the cloak appearances for the Jewellery and Cloaks vendor in the skirmish camps.

Also added most of the appearances for the Light Armour vendor, including unique appearances for leggings since they are usually hidden by the robes.

February 7, 2010

Clicking the red NPC name in a search engine result box now also selects and shows the relevant row and item as it switches to the zone page. You can then immediately see what is needed to buy the item.

One note of warning. You can theoretically link to an item like the search engine does with a numeric value for “item” in the web address. This is not recommended as these numeric values might change after game patches where the lists and items have been tweaked by Turbine. However, I have also added the ability to use a string instead of a numeric value. The string can even be a part of a full item string, in which case the zone page will click the first row where this string occurs in the item name.

Here are a few examples to clarify:

http://chordian.net/lotro/barterers.php?zone=lothlorien&hub=4&npc=1&item=tealwallpaint

This will load the Lothlórien zone page, select the hub “Cerin Amroth” and the vendor “Tharnelleth” in that hub (these values can be determined by using the search engine and see what its result links read). The item value looks for “tealwallpaint” (notice lower case and no spaces). The zone page will automatically scroll down to the “Teal Wall Paint” item and click it.

Here is another example with a partial string:

http://chordian.net/lotro/barterers.php?zone=mirkwood&hub=2&npc=0&item=charm

This will load the Mirkwood zone page and select “Glorengail” in “The Haunted Inn”. I appended “item=charm” in the web address. Running this version will automatically scroll down and click the first item where the string “charm” occurs as part of the full item name, which in this case should be “Charm of Spirit”.

Figuring out the full condensed name of an item is easy. Just hover the mouse on a row in a list without clicking it. Your web browser should show you the filename of the image linked to that row. If the filename reads e.g. “item_suldathar_hatvalar.png”, then “hatvalar” is the string you want for the “item” value in the web address.

February 6, 2010

Most of the appearances for the Heavy Armour vendor in the skirmish camps have been added.

February 5, 2010

A few minor technical improvements — the front page now works correctly in IE6, and the map selectors in the zone pages slides below the top bar when scrolling the page. Also added loading animations to the zone pages.

Added the skirmish outfit appearances for hobbit-lad, courtesy of Merric.

February 4, 2010

Added the skirmish outfit appearances for elf-maiden and hobbit-lass, adding support for a total of four soldier races. Kudos goes to Merric for these images. I know it probably wasn’t easy to organize them.

Also added a single skirmish outfit appearance for dwarf-kind.

Added appearances for the cosmetic white label outfits, i.e. dresses, pants, hats, etc.

February 3, 2010

Skirmish camps are here! Adding the data for the skirmish camps took almost one week of hard work. Although all skirmish camps offer the same stuff in all zones, the sheer amount of vendor data was staggering. Appearances will be added later.

You can access the skirmish camp in a zone by clicking one of the oval labels in the zone boxes on this page (not all zones have a skirmish camp). Once on the zone page, the skirmish camp hub can be easily identified — the hub dot is green instead of red.

Data from these skirmish camps will of course also show up if you use the search box. The hub and vendor links in the search boxes will link to the skirmish camp in The Shire, simply because this zone page is smaller and thus loads faster.

Added appearances for the five housing items sold by the Cosmetics vendor in the skirmish camps. Also added the skirmish outfit appearances for woman and elf-sire. The latter originates from skirmish guides at LOTRO Lorebook.

February 2, 2010

A genuine thank you to Cithryth for mentioning my web site at the US forums! =)     (By the way, it’s Chordian, not Choridan.)

January 28, 2010

Improved the section map image for The Mathom Society in The Shire. It was really too crude (not enough detail in the minimap graphics) so I drew some outlining on it.

January 24, 2010

The Shire has been added as the fourth zone. The first hub in it is of course The Mathom Society in Michel Delving. Both items as well as appearances for weapons and housing items have been added.

January 23, 2010

The row with map images can now be collapsed and expanded with the small button in the top left corner of the zone map. When the row is collapsed you can select the hub and traders in two drop-down boxes instead. This simpler mode was added to make more room for the barter and item images below, or if you know the zone so well that you don’t need to look at maps.

January 22, 2010

Added The Shadowed Refuge in Mines of Moria with six armour traders. It may sound a little daunting, but they all have the same lists as the armour traders in The Orc-watch.

Also added Anazârmekhem in Mines of Moria with three armour traders. Same lists here too.

This concludes Mines of Moria, making it the third zone covered completely. I have deliberately neglected skirmish camps since they cover a whole lot of data and are unique. I’m still pondering whether I should add them as well.

January 20, 2010

Added The Orc-watch in Mines of Moria with two reputation traders and three armour traders. Appearances are included.

January 19, 2010

Added Gharâf-fehem in Mines of Moria, the third of three crafting hubs in the zone. I also added some information in the boxes for all three crafting hubs. This is not the last hub in the zone, though. More hubs are still planned.

Improved all section map images in all zones. All of them are now smaller which should load the zone pages a bit faster. At the same time I also improved all of the “drawn” section map images (particularly in Lothlórien) to generally look better. (Technically, I renewed all fill colors so that the anti-aliasing effect was applied properly.)

January 17, 2010

Added Mezer-serej in Mines of Moria, the second of three crafting hubs in the zone.

January 16, 2010

Added Hadudbâb in Mines of Moria, which is the first of three crafting hubs in the zone.

January 14, 2010

Added Dolven-view in Mines of Moria with nine legendary traders and two miner faction barterers. All of their lists are copies of lists found elsewhere in the game. The legendary traders offer exactly the same items as the traders at the docks in Lothlórien, and the miner faction barterers always offer the same stuff all over Moria.

January 13, 2010

A search page has been added. You can search all items names in all zones available. Item images will be shown in a box where you can click a link to the NPC, the hub, or just the zone. You can also see appearances when they are available. Just click the small eye icon in the bottom left corner of the box to toggle the images.

January 4, 2010

In addition to using Ctrl+Click or Shift+Click you can now also click the small eye icon.

January 3, 2010

Added item images for the three barterers in Mirkwood (Thangúlhad) that require you to be kindred with Malledhrim. I also added a few appearances for Millaesil, including one for the new mount.

A nice improvement has been added to all lists; a small eye icon will now be displayed whenever an appearance image is available for an item. Whenever you see the icon, you’ll know that using Ctrl+Click or Shift+Click will show an appearance image.

December 21, 2009

Updated all item images for the legendary traders by the docks in Lothlórien. These barterers still show the old barter box from before the expansion, but the lists and the items are exactly the same as in the game. I decided to keep these boxes because the older lists were sorted in a better way (level 53 to 59 for third age items and then level 59 to 60 for first age items).

December 17, 2009

The sixth and final hub has been added in Mirkwood (Thangúlhad) with lists for three of the six barterers — namely the ones that require you to be friend with Malledhrim. The lists for the barterers that require kindred will be added when I’ve reached this reputation level myself in the game. Appearances are included for Andidhiel.

I had to draw my own section map for Thangúlhad as the minimap rendition is actually pretty inaccurate. Most of the tents are not represented and there is no indication of the edges of the fortress. It’s almost as if the minimap rendition is a preliminary version of the camp back when Turbine was still experimenting with the layout. Even more interesting is that the interactive map at Lorebook shows a different but just as inaccurate version of the camp.

December 15, 2009

Added the fifth hub in Mirkwood (Mithechad in Ashenslades) with two barterers. Appearances are included.

The page with changes has been merged into this page. There is now a link to a page with FAQ instead in the top white bar.

December 13, 2009

The second hub in Ost Galadh has been added for the class trainers. Only one class trainer (Warden) has been added for the time being, including appearances. The other class trainers are restricted and thus will be postponed.

December 12, 2009

Added appearances for items sold by Isthel and Suldathar in Mirkwood (Ost Galadh).

Introduced a front page for the barterer pages. All zones and even their hubs can be accessed from here. You could already change to another zone using the gray links in the top white bar, but I still felt that a proper front page was missing. The page serves as a nice overview of the zones available for browsing.

December 11, 2009

The third hub has been added to Mirkwood, which will be the first of two hubs in Ost Galadh. The first hub covers the seven barterers around a table in the northern part. Appearances (and the second hub with class trainers) will come later.

December 10, 2009

Added the second hub to Mirkwood (The Haunted Inn) with two merchants. Appearances are included.

December 9, 2009

Added appearances for items sold by Gúrdagnir in Mirkwood.

December 8, 2009

I have decided to postpone the Mines of Moria page and instead get to work on the Mirkwood page immediately, as I believe you are more interested in seeing the merchandise here. The first hub at Echad Sirion (close to the boats) is now ready, except for the appearances. These will follow shortly.

December 7, 2009

Validated all armour appearances in Moria (Twenty-first Hall). Only Iron Miner’s Hands from Kettil was changed.

Validated all armour appearances in Lothlórien that could be seen in the dressing room, except the cyan gear for class trainers other than Warden. Also validated some for crafting. The Flawless Galadhrim Sword was slightly longer than before.

Added the appearances for Caerog’s Arm and Nornúan’s Head (Taxidermists Rori and Ardela).

December 6, 2009

Added Fjori in Twenty-first Hall (Moria), a new Barter Exchange Trader.

Also updated all items images for Maenasdir in The Vinyards of Lórien (Lothlórien).

December 5, 2009

Cough cough, did they make a lot of changes in Siege of Mirkwood!

I’ve spent a few days updating most of the lists and images in Lothlórien. The barter interface is now a lot wider in the game. I copied it, but made it a little smaller and instead shrunk the lists to still match the new format. Also, my lists are still one long list and not pages like they are now in the game. A new NPC (Cweneron in Caras Galadhon) has also been added.

Although most is in place in Lothlórien, all legendary traders by the docks have yet to be updated and I also still need to validate the contents of all the scroll cases sold by Maenasdir in The Vinyards of Lórien.

All class trainers were accessible prior to the expansion pack, which made it possible for me to parse all their goods and make my lists. These class trainers are now restricted just like in other zones of the world. However, I could see in the list for my own class trainer that the changes were negligible, so I decided to adapt the lists for the other class trainers.

As you have probably already noticed, I have added a box with notes to each of the lists. This box will contain information about what has changed since the previous update to the game, and whether anything is not yet up to date.

Mines of Moria has also been updated now.

November 30, 2009

Mines of Moria has been added as the second section. The section currently only contains one hub (Twenty-first Hall) but more hubs will be added as I get them done. Only one class trainer (Warden) can be found in the hub. The other class trainers have been postponed as only those of the appropriate class can see their barter lists.

November 28, 2009

Added appearances for some of the crafting items by Maenasdir in The Vinyards of Lórien.

November 27, 2009

A new hub has been added (The Vinyards of Lórien) with just one merchant. I originally wanted to include this NPC at launch but postponed it because of using the standard shop interface. His scroll cases are among the most interesting items in the zone, and I have extended his item images to also show what the scroll cases contain. Appearances will be added later.

November 26, 2009

Appearances for all decoration items have been added the past couple of days and should now be complete for Lothlórien. I have also added a few appearances for crafting items.

November 24, 2009

Added the ability to see appearances for certain barter items with Ctrl+Click on the rows. All the armour appearances, shields, a few outfits and a quiver has been added to begin with. For compatibility with certain web browsers you can also use Shift+Click.

Also added appearances for most of the decoration items offered by the taxidermist Ardela.

November 23, 2009

Cleaned up all item images for first and third age weapons (the legendary traders by the docks in Lothlórien). The images now looks better and loads approximately five times faster. All item images in the zone are now clean.

November 22, 2009

Renamed the Galadhrim section to Lothlórien. I’m not sure Galadhrim can take the credit for all the barterers in the zone. Besides, I’d like it to be clear that the section covers the entire zone, not just a specific faction.

November 21, 2009

First version released with all barter items from Galadhrim in Lothlórien.
